Hari Nyepi, the Hindu celebration of New Year ICAK 1933, this year falls on March 5. The day is fully dedicated to silence, meditation, peace of mind, including the practice of fasting, and for the most orthodox, the absolute silence. The anniversary is especially felt on the island of Bali, the small island in the vast Hindu Muslim archipelago of Indonesia.
To encourage this practice, the island's authorities have, for the entire day and Up at dawn the next day, the ban on lighting fires and kindle. Moreover, they are suspended all work, including the market, and every place of refreshment or entertainment is closed. The population remains at home and the streets are completely deserted island, which is also prohibited the circulation. For the entire day should not be hearing any sound of radio or television item. Even the tourists are free to move only when staying in hotels, but does not have access to the beaches or the sea: they can only enjoy the swimming pools.
The airport, canceled all flights arriving and departing, it reduces the activity only transit flights, with the obligation for the few passengers not to leave the airport. Of course the same firm is willing to ports where no vessel may enter or exit.
The only ones who are allowed to move (in addition of course to the means of emergency help, however small the risk of life and the parties) are Pecalang, the traditional guardians who is responsible for verifying actual compliance of the instructions issued .
The magic of Bali in the decades has attracted a large foreign community living on the island, enjoying the spell. They also observe scrupulously the provisions on Nyepi, putting into practice the respect per i costumi e le tradizioni degli indigeni e l’armonia che si respira in ogni angolo ed in ogni gesto balinese.
